Physiotherapy Department
Physiotherapy is the assessment, treatment and prevention of injuries and disorders by physical means. It complements other therapies and treatments. This department assists our patients who have had fractures, muscle problems, stroke and trauma return to their normal self by restoring their bodies’ ability to move and function normally. Among Physiotherapy procedures carried out include:
- Electrotherapy – this is treatment by use of a machine e.g. shortwave diathermy, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, interferential therapy or transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation.
- Manual therapy – special “hands on” manipulative techniques used to relieve pain, pressure and relax tensed soft tissues.
- Post-natal exercise – This is done for pre and post delivery mothers in maternity. The exercises aim at firming abdominal and sphincter muscles and reduce post–delivery back pains.
